The European Public Limited-Liability Company (Employee Involvement) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2009

These Regulations make modifications to an established system. They came into force on 1st October 2009. They should be read alongside the European Public Limited-Liability Company (Amendment) Regulations 2009 and the European Public Limited-Liability Company Regulations 2004.

The group of regulations provide for a form of public limited-liability company, the Societas Europaea (SE). This form of company is available to commercial bodies with operations in more than one member state.

A SE can be formed in a number of ways as set out in the related sets of regulations.

The Regulations also implement the relevant Directive (European Directive 2001/86/EC) which sets out the employee involvement arrangements that will govern a European Company, covering employee information, consultation and in certain circumstances participation on the board.
